2003 was the first year that the National Federation of Independent Business gathered data on the amount of businesses owned by husband-wife teams in the United States, the numbers from that year: 1.2 million small businesses. Susan and Dan Manwaring are one of these entrepreneurial-minded couples, opening their first Batteries Plus Bulbs store together in 1992. Going into business with your spouse isn't for everyone according to the Manwarings, but for the couples that can make it work the results speak for themselves.
