Franchise Brands Go Extra Mile to Help California Entrepreneurs Open Local Businesses

PRESS RELEASE - 9/23/2014 - Fishman Public Relations

Batteries Plus Bulbs to Reveal Multiple Incentive Programs at West Coast Franchise Expo.

Anaheim, Calif. - When it comes to franchising in the state of California, it's clearly a buyer's market. With national chains ranging from fast-food to maid services and retail stores eager to expand their presence in the Golden State, franchisors are offering attractive incentive packages to recruit qualified franchisees into their systems.

Batteries Plus Bulbs, the nation's first, largest and fastest growing battery and light bulb franchise, is a prime example. Earlier this year, the 25-year-old chain, with more than 630 stores, introduced the California Development Incentive Program, designed to help new franchise owners quickly ramp up sales and cash flow by providing rent subsidies and covering a significant share of their grand opening advertising and marketing costs, among other perks.

While several local entrepreneurs have expressed interest in the program, one husband/wife team has already taken advantage of the incentives to open a Batteries Plus Bulbs store in California. Michael Branz and his wife, Joann, who spent more than 10 years living in Phoenix working for Wells Fargo, are actually moving to the state to open a store in Rancho Cucamonga. "We were highly attracted to the longevity of the Batteries Plus Bulbs brand," said Michael Branz. "We know the first year of opening a new business can be challenging, so the incentive program helped ease our minds and sealed our decision to open a store."

To help further expand the program across the state, company executives are traveling to Anaheim to exhibit at the 2014 West Coast Franchise Expo (WCFE), being held at the Anaheim Convention Center from October 23-25. Batteries Plus Bulbs representatives will be at booth number 336 to educate interested candidates about the specific incentive programs.

With 30 stores currently throughout the state, Batteries Plus Bulbs is aggressively targeting Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Diego and San Bernardino, and other areas with plans for expansion. Their goal is to double the amount of stores in California by opening at least 30 new stores over the next 3 years.

"Outside of a robust incentive program for California prospects, Batteries Plus Bulbs offers potential franchisees an opportunity to invest in a stable brand with high-demand need versus want' products and services," said John Twist, Vice President of Franchise and Business Development. "Batteries and energy-efficient light bulbs will never go out of style. When franchisees join our system, they get initial and ongoing support and become part of a business with a solid foundation that's here to stay."

In addition to the California Development Incentive Program, Batteries Plus Bulbs has also launched a Multi-Unit Franchise Operator Development Initiative that offers discounted fees to assist qualified multi-unit franchisees from other non-competing brands in the development of two or more Batteries Plus Bulbs stores. The new initiative is intended to expose qualified multi-unit franchise operators from other franchise concepts to the Batteries Plus Bulbs opportunity, providing an attractive means to expand their business portfolio.

Batteries Plus Bulbs offers prospective franchisees the ability to sell needs-based products to both retail and business customers and generate multiple revenue streams through retail, business-to business and ecommerce sales. The company has become the uncontested leader in the $30.7 billion U.S. battery and the growing $17 billion U.S. light bulb replacement markets (Freedonia Research Study). In addition to having access to over 45,000 batteries, light bulbs, and related products, Batteries Plus Bulbs also offers in-store repairs for Apple® devices, including iPhones®, iPads® and iPods®, most Samsung® devices and many more. Services include: battery replacement, and cracked screen, charge port, button and antenna repair, among others. Experts can also install screen protectors on smartphones and tablets to help avoid future damage. Batteries Plus Bulbs also offers to do most repairs "while-you-wait" allowing customers to drop-off broken devices with same-day pickup and a 6-month warranty on all parts and workmanship.

Batteries Plus Bulbs has recently been recognized by Entrepreneur magazine, which has ranked them one of the top 500 franchises in America for the past 20 consecutive years and #1 in the battery category for the past five years. They've also been recognized by Forbes as the #4 Best Franchises in America in the mid-range investment category.
