PRESS RELEASE - 1/28/2014 - Fishman PR & Marketing
Military Times Recognizes the Companys Commitment to Recruiting Veterans for Franchise Opportunities.
Batteries Plus Bulbs, the nation's first, largest and fastest growing battery and light bulb franchise, was recently recognized for its remarkable sales growth in Franchise Times® Top 200TM. Of the largest franchise systems in the United States, the 630-unit chain ranked 12th in the retail category and 144 overall, up from its 2013 ranking.
The Franchise Times Top 200 is an annual list of the 200 largest franchise systems in the United States based on worldwide system sales. To be eligible for the Top 200, a franchise must have a sizable presence in the United States and franchisees must own at least 15 percent of the system's units. The number of international locations operated or franchised by companies on the Franchise Times Top 200 grew by 10.3 percent in 2013, while domestic growth was just 1.3 percent. While many franchises on the list struggled to open locations stateside, Batteries Plus Bulbs continues to remain the exception, providing a recession-resistant model focused on selling needs-based products. Batteries Plus Bulbs experienced a 10 percent growth in store count in 2013, opening 56 stores in the U.S.
"As long as there is commercial and consumer demand for need-based products like batteries and light bulbs, and services like smart phone and tablet repairs, our franchise system should continue to experience substantial growth," said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus Bulbs. "The expanding U.S. replacement battery industry is estimated to be at $30.7 billion and the rapidly-growing U.S. light bulb industry is estimated to be at $17 billion in sales (Freedonia Research Study). This provides a solid foundation to sustain ongoing growth, but we're continuing to expand and evolve through the addition of new products and services."
With 25 consecutive years of system and same-store sales growth, Batteries Plus Bulbs is averaging about one new store opening per week in the U.S. and is continuing its aggressive expansion plans with a focus on opening stores in Southern California, New York and the Mid-Atlantic. The brand differentiates itself with superior product knowledge, product breadth and availability, and helpful advice. In addition to having access to more than 45,000 batteries, light bulbs, and related products, Batteries Plus Bulbs also offers in-store repairs for Apple® devices, including iPhones®, iPads® and iPods®, most Samsung® devices and many more.
In addition to being recognized by the Franchise Times, Batteries Plus Bulbs has recently been recognized by Inc. Magazine's annual Inc. 500|5000 for the eighth consecutive year, and by Entrepreneur Magazine, as one of the top 500 franchises in America for the past 20 consecutive years; #1 in the battery category for the past five. The chain has also been recognized by Forbes as the #4 Best Franchise in America in the mid-range investment category.
