Over 200 years ago the first invention demonstrating electric light, the Arc lamp, was created. It was then surpassed nearly 70 years later when Thomas Edison revolutionized the world with the incandescent bulb. Since then, there hasn’t been a real breakthrough in lighting technology until LED bulbs began to emerge. Due to the combined efforts of multiple national initiatives to phase-out the energy-gobbling incandescent bulbs in favor of something more energy efficient, major advances in lighting technology have been made in recent years specifically in regards to LEDs.
