Local Veteran Finds Entrepreneurial Success in Battery and Lighting Franchise Ownership

Discipline, integrity, and work ethic are all skills that are developed when one enlists in the military, but the application of these traits doesn’t stop when one hangs up their uniform. Military veterans have been found to possess the skills required to open their own business. So much so that they are at least 45% more likely to embark into entrepreneurship than non-military citizens. Bates Kennedy, formerly a NCO in the Army, is just one of these entrepreneurial-minded veterans. In 1996 Kennedy opened his first Batteries Plus Bulbs franchise, he attributes much of his success to the lessons he learned during his service. Today Kennedy co-owns 10 Batteries Pus Bulbs franchise locations and continues to set an example for the positive future that awaits military personnel once they move back to civilian life.
