As the recession continues to take its toll, big retailers like RadioShack and Staples are closing stores in droves. The former go-to for electronics, RadioShack plans to close 1,100 stores by the end of the year while Staples plans to close 225. But there are some that see these closings as an opportunity including many franchises. Store closings are one of the few options for real estate inventory for franchises looking to open stores in specific markets. Batteries Plus Bulbs is one of these chains looking to take advantage of these closings. John Twist, VP of Franchise and Business Development for Batteries Plus Bulbs, talks about how even though these newly opened locations are appealing, there are a multitude of factors that must be considered besides the price tag on a potential storefront.
