With Father’s Day right around the corner, Denver Post writer Andy Vuong decided to explore local businesses owned by a father-son team: the Reese’s of Batteries Plus Bulbs in Castle Rock fit the bill perfectly. Father Larry and his son Steve’s journey to reach a point where they could start a business together was not easy, especially for Steve. In 2000 Steve was working as a racing-school instructor in California when he was involved in a car accident that tore his back to shreds causing him to be laid up and without work for twelve years. He approached his father, a successful business owner his whole life, about the idea of embarking on a new business endeavor together - after thoroughly researching different industries and businesses, Steve landed on Batteries Plus Bulbs. Today the father-son team, along with the help of Steve’s sister Stephanie, service the battery and lighting needs of the Castle Rock area while maintaining their strong family ties.
