In 1993 Jerry and Maya Yang were one of the first ownership teams to franchise a Batteries Plus Bulbs location and they were also the first to open a store west of the Mississippi River. The Yangs decided to pursue franchise opportunities with Batteries Plus Bulbs because they felt it filled a need previously unmet in their community of Tucson, AZ.
