Two years ago Jerry Stokes was in search of a car battery for his daughter’s car when his hunt landed him in a Batteries Plus Bulbs. On top of his pursuit of a car battery, Stokes had been looking for an investment opportunity at the time. When he walked into his local Batteries Plus Bulbs, something clicked. Soon after, he took advantage of the franchise opportunity and opened his first store in Modesto. He then followed up with his second location which he recently opened Turlock. Stokes acknowledged there is a degree of risk when investing in a niche business, but when it’s a niche everyone needs (like batteries and light bulbs) it’s much easier to buy into the franchise system.
