Batteries Plus Does it Again; Ranked No. 1 in Category by Dun & Bradstreet's AllBusiness AllStars Largest All-Battery Retailer Ranks in Top 20 Percent Overall of Best Franchises in America; Financial Strength Ranking Jumps

PRESS RELEASE - 12/16/2009 - Chad Nason (Fishman Public Relations)

Hartland, WI—For the second consecutive year, Batteries Plus, the nation's franchise leader in the $24 billion dollar battery segment, ranked No. 1 in the battery category and #59 overall in a comprehensive listing of the nation's top 300 franchise companies.

Dun & Bradstreet's 2010 AllBusiness AllStars rankings listed the top 300 franchises in the country based on a variety of factors. The rankings assessed the strengths of franchising companies based upon criteria such as Web visibility, brand awareness, number of franchise locations, history and longevity, the rate at which new franchises are being added, and the latest financial strength scores from Dun & Bradstreet. The company's team of editors researched, compiled, and analyzed more than 700 franchise systems to compile the AllBusiness AllStar Franchises list, which draws upon the in-depth financial analysis of its parent company, D&B (Dun and Bradstreet). The major difference for Batteries Plus in the 2010 rankings was an increased financial strength score, further validating the strength and stability of the battery retailer during the difficult economic times of the last year.

"The demand drivers for batteries get stronger every year and we have been able to take advantage of those opportunities through hard work," said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus. "This year, the ranking recognized our improved economic strength, which is something we are particularly proud of in these times. Receiving top billing in a ranking as prestigious as D&B's AllBusiness AllStars speaks volumes to our accomplishments."

Reynolds cited the increased need for portable devices such as mp3 players, cell phones, digital cameras, laptops and camcorders, as well as strong support for franchisees and national brand recognition as factors contributing to the franchise system's double-digit percent increase in same-store sales in 2009.
